New Horror Movie Releases 2021

At Terror 29 we are so excited for this year’s wide array of horror movie releases! This year’s list includes everything from monsters and slashers to witches and demons. There are plenty of new releases this year and everyone should have at least one that they are looking forward to. We included trailers when available.

Wrong Turn -Rated R - Release Date: January 26th 

Directed by Mike P. Nelson, this survival horror follows a group of friends as they make a wrong turn, into the lives of a group no one could survive.  

The Night - Not Rated - January 29th 

Directed by Kourosh Ahari and from the producers of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Night is a psychological thriller about a small family that just happens to choose the wrong hotel.  

The Reckoning - Not Rated - February 5th 

Directed by Neil Marshall, director of the descent and game of thrones, The Reckoning is a spiritual/demon film that escalates quickly from accusations of witchcraft to the Devil himself showing up to cause some havoc.  

The Vigil - PG13 - February 26th 

Directed by Keith Thomas and from the producers of Halloween and Insidious, this spiritual/demon thriller follows a man watching over a deceased member of his community where things turn dark as the night goes on.

Dreamcatcher - R - March 5th 

Directed by Jacob Johnston, Dreamcatcher is a survival thriller that shows just how bad a fun night out can turn.  

Spiral - R - May 21st 

Directed by Darren Bousman, the newest chapter from the book of SAW follows a detective and his partner as they become wrapped up in the killer’s gruesome game.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It - Not Rated - June 4th (No Trailer)

Directed by Michael Chaves and based on the terrifying tales of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the Conjuring 3 is a spiritual/demon thriller that follows one of the most sensational cases that the couple worked.

The Forever Purge - Not Rated - July 9th 

Directed by Everardo Gout, this action horror is the fifth and final installment in The Purge series that portrays the events of a 12-hour period where all crime is legal, even murder.  

Candyman - R - August 27th 

Directed by Nia DaCosta, Candyman follows a man as he experiences the worst that could come from an urban legend.  

Resident Evil - Not Rated - September 9th 

Directed by Johannes Roberts, not much has been given to the public about this reboot film. The plot is being kept under wraps, so we’ll just have to wait until it hits theaters to find out what this one is all about!

A Quiet Place Part 2 - PG13 - September 17th 

Directed by John Krasinski, this creature horror film shows how far a mother will go to protect her children.  

Halloween Kills - Not Rated - October 15th 

Directed by David Gordon Green, this is the second movie of the new Halloween slasher reboot starring Jamie Lee Curtis.  

Last Night in Soho - Not Yet Rated - October 22nd 

Directed by Edgar Wright, this drama horror explores the consequences you face when you attempt to mess with time.  

Well, that’s all of the horror that we know is coming out this year! AND, while they aren’t horror movies, there are also new installments in the Hotel Transylvania, Addam’s Family (animated), and Ghostbusters series!
