2021 Halloween Kills Director Says Film is About Misinformation and Panic

As a huge fan of Michael Myers I couldn’t be more excited about Halloween Kills directed by David Gordan Green. This will be the 12th movie in the series and let’s be honest, we can skip talking about a couple of them. While all of them have been fun to watch, it’s hard to live up to the original 1978 Halloween. Then comes along Halloween 2018 and holy cow I was more impressed than I expected to be. With that said, I have high hopes that Halloween Kills can continue the horror saga and live up to the Michael Myers character.

In an exclusive picture released by Empire on Twitter, we see Michael Myers emerging from the burning house. In the first released teaser we see firetrucks in route as Laurie screams, “No! Let it burn!” (2018 SPOILER ALERT) Halloween 2018 ends with Michael Myers trapped in Laurie’s burning home. So it makes perfect sense to pick up Halloween Kills right where Halloween 2018 left off, and the perfect tip of the hat to the original Halloween 1 & 2.

In an interview with Empire, David Gordon Green says the movie has themes that couldn’t be more relevant today. “The film is about community fear, paranoia, misinformation and crowd panic.” In another interview Green told Total Film, “It’s about the creation of fear”.

Green also mentions that the film gets right into the action and wastes no time, “It’s very aggressive - It’s more efficient”.

Halloween Kills is set to be released on October 15th, 2021. And from the sounds of it, Blumhouse will not be delaying the film any longer. In an interview with Indie Wire, Jason Blum says “No, we’re not holding it,” “Halloween Kills is coming out… come hell or high water, vaccine or no vaccine. It is coming out.”

So one thing we know for certain is Michael Myers is returning this Halloween.

As a side note: I’ve heard rumors that David Gordon Green might be a part of remaking The Exorcist. What are your thoughts on that? Would you welcome that remake or don’t touch the original? Let me know your thoughts on Twitter @terror29haunt
