Spring Horror 2026: Your Survival Guide to the Best Films This Season

Horror is having a moment right now. Scream 7 just shattered franchise opening weekend records, The Bride! is about to remind everyone what prestige horror looks like, and we have a stacked lineup of releases between now and summer. If you are a horror obsessive — and you are reading a Terror 29 blog, so you are — this spring is going to keep you busy.

Here is your field guide to everything worth watching this spring, plus one very important April date you need to circle on your calendar.

Scream 7 — In Theaters Now

Sidney Prescott is back. After sitting out Scream VI, Neve Campbell returns for what might be the most personal entry in the franchise. Ghostface is now targeting her teenage daughter, and Sidney is done running. She is burning it all down.

Opening weekend numbers hit $63.6 million — a franchise record. Kevin Williamson directed this one himself, which feels like a full-circle moment for the series. Worth catching on the big screen before it hits digital in mid-April. And if you need a Ghostface piece for your collection to celebrate, the Mystery Shop has you covered.

The Bride! — March 6

the_bride
Maggie Gyllenhaal directing a Bride of Frankenstein adaptation with Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale. That sentence should not require any further explanation. Whether this skews more art film or full creature feature remains to be seen, but the cast and the premise are impossible to ignore. Classic monster horror reimagined for 2026 — we are in.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come — March 20

ready_or_not_2
The first film was a blast — a blackly comedic survival horror film with a killer premise and Samara Weaving absolutely losing her mind in a wedding dress. The sequel brings her back and adds Sarah Michelle Gellar to the mix. If you liked the original, this is an automatic yes. If you have not seen the original, fix that before March 20th.

Exit 8 — April 10

exit_8_movie
97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on the viral backrooms / escape room game that freaked out the entire internet, this one is already being called one of the scariest theatrical experiences in years. April 10th hits right before Glow Night, which means you can spend two weeks absolutely terrified before we show up and terrorize you ourselves. You are welcome.

Now About April 24th and 25th...

While you are building that spring watchlist, we have something waiting for you right here in Brandon.

And if you are in the Sioux Falls area on a Saturday, the Mystery Shop of Horrors is open 12-5 PM in Brandon, SD. Horror figures, collectibles, the kind of stuff that does not show up at your local big box store. Come find something worth adding to the shelf.
