The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It directed by Michael Chaves is scheduled for release June 4th, 2021 and is the 8th installment in the Conjuring Universe. In addition to being released in theaters, this movie will also be streaming on HBO Max. Which I couldn’t be more excited about, because well I haven’t been to the theaters since March of 2020. :(
The official synopsis of The Conjuring 3 reveals “A chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before…”
The murder the film is based on is the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, which was a murder trial that took place in 1981 in Conneticut. It is the first known court case in the United States which involved the defendant’s claim of demonic possesion and denial of responsiblity for the murder.
Returning to the film are Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga playing Ed and Lorraine Warren. Producer James Wan, who directed the first two Conjuring films, says in a Warner Bros. Interview “I really wanted The Conjuring 3 to get away from the whole haunted house set-up of the first two Conjuring films, it should be more on a whole different level, something that we’ve never explored before in the Conjuring world.”
I’m not sure what you’ll be doing on June 4th, but I hope you’ll join me in watching The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. Make sure to check back to see my thoughts on the movie.
